Hidroeléctrica Futaleufú expresses interest in building 2 dams on the Santa Cruz River in Argentina

Six consortiums have expressed interest in an international tender to construct two hydro plants in Argentina's Santa Cruz province, the country's deputy ministry of hydro resources said in a statement.

La Barrancosa and Condor Cliff hydro plants, to be located on the Santa Cruz river, will have combined capacity of 1.7GW and require investment of US$1bn.

Interested companies can still purchase data packages for the tender.

Offers are due on December 27 and the winner is expected to be announced on March 17, 2008.

The interested consortiums are: IMPSA, Corporación América and Construções e Comércio Camargo Corrêa; Isolux Corsán and Andrade Gutierrez; Techint, Grupo Roggio, Esuco and Supercemento; Electroingeniería, IECSA and José Cartellone; Hidroeléctrica Futaleufú, Odebrecht and Aluar Aluminio Argentino; and Panedille Argentina.
