[4 Dec 07] Chile's government passed a law on Tuesday aimed at facilitating the sale of stock by mining companies to raise funds for projects, the country's Ministry of Mines said in a statement on its website.
The law, which will be enacted in the next few weeks, seeks to improve access to reliable information about mining companies' mineral deposits.
At the moment in Chile, only 2% of mining projects are funded on the stock market, according to the statement.
"We hope that, once in force, this law will result in the entry of mining companies in the Chilean stock market," said Minister of Mining Karen Poniachik.
